EAS is an independent environmental consultancy founded in 1986. EAS has been helping both public and private sector clients and individuals meet regulatory standards, planning submissions and planning conditions for over 30 years.

The technical team and the services we provide have evolved to meet the requirements of ever changing regulatory and good practice guidelines that have been produced and implemented, through government licensing and local authority planning requirements, to improve the environment we all live and work in.

Our clients include planners, architects, landowners, developers, local government, government agencies, businesses and others.

SERVICES

ASSESSMENT

We offer a range of assessments for planning applications, conditions, compliance and other industry and personal requirements. All our assessments are tailor made to suit our clients requirements and time frames.

MONITORING

We offer long term monitoring solutions for development projects, compliance, operations monitoring, health and safety, industrial exposures and improvement monitoring.

MODELLING

We offer modelling for noise and air quality impact assessment, as well as metocean, hydrodynamic and plume discharge modelling for projects in the UK and abroad.

OTHER

We offer support and guidance for permitting applications, BREEAM assessment, drainage and capacity checks/ applications, discharge licence applications, soil and water quality sampling and analysis review, and invasive plant identification and treatment.

MALCOLM MCKEMEY

Owner & Director

BSc (Hons), CEng, CEnv, MICE, MIEAust, MCIWEM, MIEnvSc

Prior to founding EAS in 1986, Malcolm has worked in Australia, Africa and the UK on numerous international infrastructure projects. With a wealth of experience in the built environment, Malcolm has contributed to hundreds of environmental assessments and permit applications.

Director

BSc (Hons), MCIWEM, MIEnvSc, ACIEEM

Having worked for EAS since 2007 before becoming Director in 2015, Lucy is experienced in a wide range of reports, specialising in ecological surveys, contaminated land and flood risk assessments.

Sandra Holland

Accounts

Sandra joined EAS in 1991, and has helped the company grow. With experience in banking, finance and PR, Sandra manages the accounts.

Lisa Hawtin

BSc (Hons) MIES, MIAQM

Lisa joined EAS in 2018; she holds a BSc in Environmental Science and brings expertise in air quality assessment/management from both the public and private sector. Lisa has experience in a range of environmental assessment and development planning projects having previously worked for a number of local authorities across the south-east.

Office Manager

Carol joined EAS in 2018 to take over the role of office manager.

Emily Cooper

BSc (Hons) ACSM, PGCert (Eng)

Emily joined EAS in 2020, she has a BSc in Environmental Management and PGCert in Sustainable Waste Management. She has experience in a variety of heavy industry permitting projects, primarily within the mining industry. Emily has a keen interest in the ecology and management of the coastal zone, and in Sustainable Development

Environmental Consultant



Role description

EAS undertake environmental assessments to inform, amongst other things, development design and provide our clients and regulators with the information required to make informed decisions.
The role of the Environmental Consultant is to design and confirm an appropriate level of assessment, to undertake desktop studies and site assessments, and produce technical, scientific reports suitable for submission to our clients, their representatives and regulators (such as Local Councils and the Environment Agency).

Requirements:

  • Relevant Degree (Environmental Science, Biological Science, Chemistry, Engineering or similar discipline)
  • Understanding of contamination risk factors / flooding and drainage / noise / air – as appropriate to your specialism
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Proficient in the use of Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of software such as GIS
  • Experience producing technical, scientific reports
  • Full and clean UK driving licence
  • Good team player

Key tasks and accountabilities

  • Project management
  • Project related research
  • Organise site work
  • Liaise with clients, regulators and other service providers
  • Prepare desktop studies
  • Design site investigations to project requirements
  • Undertake site walkover assessments and intrusive/monitoring investigations
  • Interpret data and produce valid conclusions and remedial recommendations

A good knowledge of English Language is essential. Maths or Physics would be an advantage.

Ecologist



Role description

Location: Hickstead, Haywards Heath, West Sussex
Salary: Competitive – based on experience
Hours: Flexible

EAS undertake environmental assessments to inform, amongst other things, development design and provide our clients and regulators with the information required to make informed decisions.
The role of the Ecologist is to design and complete Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs) and Protected Species Surveys, and produce technical, scientific reports with appropriate recommendations for mitigation and enhancement suitable for submission to our clients, their representatives and regulators (such as Local Councils and Natural England).

Requirements:

  • Relevant Degree
  • Experience undertaking PEAs and Protected Species Surveys
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Proficient in the use of Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of software such as GIS
  • Protected Species Survey Licences (ideally including bat and gcn)
  • Experience producing technical, scientific reports
  • Full and clean UK driving licence and suitable vehicle
  • Good team player
